Abstract
Interruptions from digital sources form a part of our work experience. Oft, these disruptions are the result of discrepancies between the sender and receiver of a message. These interruptions (e.g. new mail) cause, amongst other things, a decrease of productivity and the assessment that a task is a lot harder to complete. Despite vast amounts of research having been performed on controlling the flow of incoming interruptions based on various amounts of parameters, very little of this research has focused on the social context in which such messages are being sent and received. It is through the application of location derived context that I hope to be able to reduce the amount of discrepancies between the sender and receiver of such messages. My research question can be summarized as: How can location derived context be used to assess the appropriateness of interruption in order to avoid a mismatch in currently played social roles?
